SEAMEO aims to uplift the quality of education, science, culture and to promote sustainable human resources for a better quality of life in Southeast Asia through enhancing understanding and cooperation, providing a platform for policy dialogues, and promoting program excellence.
The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization
SEAMEO is a regional intergovernmental organization established in 1965 among governments of Southeast Asian countries to promote regional cooperation in education, science and culture in the region.
The SEA-Teacher Project aims to revitalize teacher education in Southeast Asia as part of the region’s commitment to achieving quality education.
In October 2014, the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education through the SEAMEO Council has adopted the SEAMEO Education Agenda or the seven priority areas for SEAMEO to work together to improve quality education in Southeast Asia. “Revitalizing Teacher Education” is one of the priority areas in achieving quality education for the region. In order to fulfill this mandate, the SEAMEO Secretariat has initiated a project titled, “Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia (SEA-Teacher Project).
